Dr Chew is a senior surgeon with wide repertoire of clinical experience and excellent track record. After completed his training in general surgery, he did a fellowship at the renowned Princess Alexandra Hospital and Queensland Liver Transplant Service in Australia and subspecialised in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery. He was senior consultant surgeon and chief of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery in Tan Tock Seng Hospital before joining this clinic. He was also the lead surgeon (HPB surgery) in the Centre of Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery as well as lead gastrointestinal endoscopist in the hospital.

He has wide experience in managing benign and malignant conditions involving the liver, gallbladder, biliary tract and the pancreas. In addition to common laparoscopic procedures such as hernia repair, gallbladder removal and appendicectomy, he also has special interest in minimal invasive surgery in the treatment of adrenal tumors, splenectomy, cancer staging as well as laparoscopic approach to HPB conditions such as laparoscopic bile duct exploration, management of liver cyst / abscess and local ablative therapy of liver tumor. He also performs diagnostic and therapeutic GI endoscopy including gastroscopy, colonoscopy as well as endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography (ERCP).
